The Rector of Kumasi Polytechnic, Prof. Nicholas Nana Nsowah-Nuamah and the Director of International Collaboration, Dr (Mrs) Patricia Owusu Darko, arrived in Zhenjiang on Thursday for a two-day visit to Jiangsu University.

The purpose of their visit was to conclude a bilateral agreement of student training between the two institutions. The visit was also to ascertain the progress of their PhD candidates studying at Jiangsu University. They met with the Supervisors in the various Departments that these students are studying.

At the School of Food and Biological Engineering (FBE), the visitors met with Prof. Ma Yong-kun, the Doctoral Supervisor of Felix Narku Engmann, and Prof. Ma Haile, the Dean of FBE. They were accompanied by Dr, Tui, an OEC staff in charge of Postgraduate students. After exchanging felicitations and given the School’s brochure, Prof. Ma Yong-kun briefed the team on the progress of study of Felix and his achievements in terms of conduct, research, and publications.

Prof. Ma Haile introduced the various programs that are offered at FBE and indicated the possibility of collaborating with Kumasi Polytechnic in areas of mutual research interests. He suggested to the Rector to encourage some of his Lecturers to come and offer their post-doctoral studies with the FBE.

Prof. Nicholas Nana Nsowah-Nuamah responded by thanking the staff and Dean of FBE for the support they have given to Felix Narku Engmann which has enabled him to complete his PhD studies at Jiangsu University as scheduled. Prof. Nsowah-Nuamah enquired about the possibility of bringing students from Ghana to offer first degree in Food Science. Prof. Ma Haile responded in the affirmative, indicating that, at least, 15 students are required to start the program.

The meeting ended with both sides assuring each other of continuing with this collaboration to their mutual benefit.
